Alpine Valleys

Centred on the towns of Bright and Myrtleford along the Great Alpine Road, the Alpine Valleys are an Australian wine region in the state of Victoria located 326 kilometres north-east of the city of Melbourne, the state capital. The region, which grows grapes primarily for table wine production, produces some of the most common varieties available in the market, such as Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Marzemino, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, and Shiraz. It is composed of four river basins formed by the Buckland, Buffalo, Kiewa, and Ovens rivers.

The Alpine Valleys region provides several adventure opportunities to locals and visitors alike thanks to its cultural heritage, geographical setting, and modern facilities:

First off are the Alpine Valleys' numerous wineries that connoisseurs (and otherwise) can visit to sample the region's most popular product. Some of the notable locations include Annapurna Estate, Baltazar Vineyards, Bogong Estate, Boynton's Winery, Ceccanti Wines, Eaglerange Estate, Folino Estate Wines, Gapsted Wines, Gundowringla Wines, Kancoona Valley Wines Vineyard, Michelini Wines, Mount Buffalo Vineyard, Ringer Reef Winery, Rosewhite Vineyards, Schmidt's Strawberry Winery, Souters Winery, Tawonga Vineyard, and Victorian Alps Winery.

The Alpine Valleys region also hosts regular events that attract people from all over. Two of the area's most anticipated festivals are the Alpine Valleys Wine and Food Festival (held in March) and the International Festival (in October).

People who enjoy spending time outdoors in communion with nature can go for challenging hikes, long walks, or relaxing strolls in two of Alpine Valley's most popular parks, the Alpine National Park and the Mount Buffalo National Park. Alternatively, one can also appreciate a bird's-eye-view of the region's sights through its regular scenic flight tours-Mount Buffalo Magic, The Major Mountain Spectacular, and Bright Township From Above. Either way, the area's picture-perfect sceneries will be enjoyed.

The Alpine Valley region also has much for enthusiasts of various sports, one simply needs to visit some of the area's facilities or participate in some of its programs. Top recommendations go to Alpine High Country, Bogong Horseback Adventures, Bright Bowls Club, and Bright Sports Centre.
